The CMU Residency Experience
CMU Medical Education Partners (CMU Partners) is part of Central Michigan University College of Medicine (CMED). The College of Medicine was established in 2009 to prepare physicians focused on improving access to high quality health care in Michigan, with an emphasis on rural and medically underserviced regions. The college received preliminary accreditation through the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) in 2012, and will start its first class of medical students in summer 2013.
Located at 1000 Houghton Ave., in Saginaw, Michigan, CMU Partners provides administrative offices for all the teaching programs. We provide over 40,000 patient visits annually and a medical library which acts as the health sciences library for the region.
CMU Partners was developed as a separate corporation by CMU College of Medicine in partnership with Covenant Healthcare and St. Mary’s of Michigan. CMU Partners manages five residency programs located at Covenant and St. Mary’s and these programs are accredited through the ACGME.
They include:
| Emergency Medicine | General Surgery | ||
| Family Medicine | Obstetrics and Gynecology | ||
| Internal Medicine |
In addition, CMU Partners also provides educational experience to residents and students in several unique areas including: Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Simulation, and Rheumatology Services.
The CMU College of Medicine refers to its Saginaw location as its East campus and its Mt. Pleasant location as its West campus. The West campus is the primary site for education of first and second year medical students, for its central administration (this includes general administration, clinical, research and education administration) and for the conduct of its research programs. The East campus is the primary site for education of third and fourth year medical students, training of residents in CMU clinics, and local graduate medical education administration.
CMU College of Medicine's clinical enterprise - programs and sites - are referred to as CMU Healthcare. The College of Medicine educates students through affiliated healthcare entities across mid and northern Michigan. Visit our website at: http://www.cmich.edu/academics/medicine
