“I think that we have great opportunities to see unique patients and disease entities here since we receive most of the more complex cases in the region as transfers to our facility. Also, our attendings encourage us to develop our own practice styles and foster our growth as physicians as we advance over the course of the residency program. The emphasis on simulated encounters with critically-ill patients, becoming proficient with procedures, and oral boards helps to prepare us for real-life patient encounters and builds confidence for taking future board exams. This program is an excellent blend of both academic and community EM program experiences.”
